International H&S Compliance Assessment & the SAFETYGENIUS™ MARK
The SAFETYGENIUS™ MARK is our own independent assessment, operated by Safety Genius Ltd. It benchmarks your health, safety and risk management system against the ISO 45001, ISO 45003 and ISO 31000 frameworks and against the legislation that applies where you operate. On successful assessment you receive the mark as evidence that an independent third party has reviewed your management system.
Important: this is not accredited certification. Safety Genius Ltd is not an accredited certification body and the mark is not accredited by UKAS or any other national accreditation body. No certificate — ours, or an accredited ISO 45001 certificate — guarantees legal compliance. The HSE looks at evidence well beyond certification when assessing whether duties have been met, and responsibility for compliance always remains with you as the duty holder.

How it works
- Who runs it
- The SAFETYGENIUS™ MARK is our own assessment, owned and operated by Safety Genius Ltd. It is not issued by an accredited certification body and it is not accredited by UKAS, ANAB or any other national accreditation body. If you need accredited ISO 45001 certification, we will prepare you for it and refer you to an accredited certification body.
- Assessment criteria
- We assess your documented management system against a published checklist derived from ISO 45001 clauses 4–10, ISO 45003 psychosocial guidance and ISO 31000 risk principles, plus the health and safety legislation that applies in your jurisdiction. The full criteria and scoring thresholds are issued to you before the assessment begins.
- Scope
- The assessment covers your documented system: policy, risk assessments, legal register, training records, consultation, incident reporting, monitoring and review. It is a documentation and evidence review with interviews, not a site inspection of every workplace, and it covers only the sites and activities named on your certificate.
- Validity & renewal
- The mark is valid for 12 months from the assessment date and lapses if your scope, sites or management system change materially. Renewal requires a fresh assessment. We can withdraw the mark where evidence is found to be inaccurate.
- Verification
- Every certificate carries a unique reference and issue date. Clients, insurers and principal contractors can verify a certificate by emailing info@safetygenius.com with the reference; we confirm the holder, scope, issue date and current status.
- Recognition
- The mark is recognised on its own merits as evidence that an independent third party has reviewed your management system. We hold no recognition arrangement with any regulator, accreditation body or certification body, and no regulator treats the mark as proof of legal compliance.
ISO 45001 certification vs ISO 45003 assessment
A certifiable requirements standard for occupational health and safety management systems. Organisations can hold UKAS-accredited certification to ISO 45001, issued by an accredited certification body. We prepare you for that audit; we do not issue accredited ISO 45001 certificates.
A guidance standard on psychological health and safety at work. It contains no certifiable requirements, so no accredited certification to ISO 45003 exists — certification bodies such as BSI describe their ISO 45003 certification as unaccredited. What we provide is an assessment of your system against ISO 45003 guidance.
